Project Title: “Marine Community” Aquarium Mural
Media: Digital / Illustration
This mural illustration project transforms a high-visibility wall into a layered visual narrative that celebrates marine life, imagination, and community. Combining bold compositional elements, a restrained color palette, and hand-drawn textures, the design balances figurative scenes with abstract motifs to create movement across the surface while preserving legibility from a distance.
Visual approach
Scale: Figures and objects are simplified into iconic shapes to read clearly at street scale, with selective detailing for focal areas.
Color: A limited palette of four to six harmonious hues provides cohesion and contrast, allowing focal elements to pop without overwhelming the composition.
Texture and line: Hand-drawn marks and subtle gradients introduce warmth and human presence, counterbalancing geometric patterning used for rhythm and repetition.
Execution and materials: Durable, UV-resistant exterior paints and anti-graffiti coating will be used to preserve color fidelity and reduce maintenance. The painting process is staged to minimize disruption, with scaffold and lift operations coordinated around pedestrian safety and local business hours.
Outcome "Marine Community" aims to enliven the streetscape, celebrate marine life, and create a landmark that residents recognize.
